API keys

An API key lets a program act as you: it can list, edit and export your templates. Use one per integration so you can revoke them independently.

Creating a key

1. Click your avatar (top right) → API Keys.
2. Click New key, give it a name you’ll recognize later (Billing service, Claude Code, Laptop CLI) and click Create.
3. Copy the key now. It is displayed only once, in the green banner. After you close it, only the first characters are shown in the list.

Using a key

Send it in the x-api-key header:

The same key works for the REST API and for MCP clients such as Claude Code.

Caution

Treat API keys like passwords. Keep them on the server side — in environment variables or a secret manager — and never ship them in front-end code, mobile apps or public repositories.

Revoking a key

In API Keys, click the red trash icon next to the key and confirm with Revoke. Any program still using it immediately gets 401 Unauthenticated.
